To begin, first download the utility and install it to a Mac computer. If no device is connected, the application will appear as shown below:

 

 

Once connected, you will see the name of the phone or device and the iOS version. At the bottom of the screen, Safe Eraser displays the amount of memory currently being used and how much memory is still available. Options for data removal are provided on the left side of the screen.

 

 


 

Features Offered by Safe Eraser

Safe Eraser offers abundant features for cleaning up your iPhone or any compatible iOS device. Upon connection to the Mac where this utility is installed, you will be able to select each option displayed in the left panel. Safe Eraser provides the following features.

 

Express Cleanup – Scan for log files, cached files, junk files, and other items that need to be removed from the device. Safe Eraser will look for these types of data and then remove them to increase available memory.

 

Photo Compressor – Photos can take up an extensive amount of memory on any device. The photo compressor option may be used to compress these items so they take up minimal space on your device.

 

Unused App Eliminator – If you routinely install apps for an iOS device and then never use them, they may be taking up significant space. Safe Eraser will locate idle apps and remove them for you automatically.

 

Erase Deleted Files – As files are added and removed from an iPhone or other iOS compatible device, these items sit idly waiting to be overwritten. Safe Eraser can be used to permanently remove sensitive or old data that has been deleted to ensure it is not recoverable.

 

Erase Private Data – As with deleted files, Safe Eraser is also able to locate any personal data stored on an iPhone or any iOS compatible device. This ensures that private data is no longer accessible or recoverable on your device.

 

Erase All Data – In some instances, all data may need to be removed from the connected device such as when the phone will be sold or is being replaced by a newer model. This option ensures that all data residing on the phone or device is inaccessible and permanently gone.

 

These options may be chosen by clicking on their name in the panel located on the left side of the utility underneath your device’s information.

 


 

How To Perform an Express Cleanup

An Express Cleanup is one of the many types of removal you can perform with Safe Eraser. This feature may be used to clean your device and remove pesky items like cached or junk files.

 

Step 1: To perform this action with Safe Eraser, simply select this option and click on Start Scan.

 


Safe Eraser will scan the device for these items: Logs, Cache Files, Temp Files, and Junk Files. The amount of memory held by these items will be shown to the left of each within the list.

Step 2: Once these files have been identified, you may uncheck or check any that should not be removed. By default all located files are checked within Safe Eraser.

Step 3: Click on Cleanup in the bottom of the screen to complete the removal from your device after making all desired selections.

 

 


 

Erasing Deleted Files

With Safe Eraser, you may also erase deleted files to ensure the data is not retrievable. To begin, select Erase Deleted Files in the left panel of the screen and then click on Start.

As Safe Eraser looks for files to erase from the device, you will see the progress of the scan at the top of the screen. Below the progress bar, you will see a list of file types where located items will be placed for viewing and removal.

You may click on one of these categories to view the individual items located by the utility.

If no items have been found, the utility will appear as shown below. To not delete a specific file type, uncheck the box to the left of its name in the utility.

 

You may also click on the name of a specific file type and make individual selections for deletion on the right side of the utility.

Click on Erase Now to complete the file removal after all selections have been made.

 


 

Erasing Private Data

With Safe Eraser, you may also erase private data to ensure this information is not accessible on the device. To begin, select Erase Private Data in the left panel of the screen and then click on Start.

As Safe Eraser looks for files to erase, you will see the progress of the scan at the top of the screen. Below the progress bar, you will see a list of file types where located items will be placed for viewing and removal.

As scanning takes place, you can view progress at the top, stop the scan, and click on a file type to view located data prior to removal.

Use the selection list on the left to choose entire file types for permanent removal or click on a name in this list to make individual selections. Then click on Erase Now in the bottom left of the screen to finish.
